People think Nature is optional.
It’s not!
Let’s protect the natural world; our very lives depend on it.
Growing native plants is one step we can all take toward protecting our planet, and we’re here to help! Nature’s Haven provides native plants for your yard, classes for your mind, and resources for further learning.
At Nature’s Haven, we want to connect folks to native plants that support pollinating insects, birds, mammals, and even soil health. It’s affordable, easy to maintain, and fun!

As wildlife ecologist Doug Tallamy points out, if just half of every American lawn were planted with native plants, it would add up to 20 million acres - bigger than all the major national parks in the country combined.
Why plant native?
Why plant native?
What are native plants?
Native plants evolved in the Pacific Northwest, and our essential pollinating insects evolved alongside them. Together, they form a diverse ecosystem that becomes less effective when native plants are replaced by ornamental species.
Native plants help:
Provide insect habitat
Far from being creepy-crawly, insects are essential for plant life. Whether it’s a food crop or a pretty flower, plants rely on insects for pollination: 87.5% of all plants are pollinated by insects! In turn, insects rely on plants for food and a safe place to lay eggs or hatch caterpillars, which… —>
Feed native bird populations
Research has found that backyard birds need hundreds of caterpillars every day to successfully raise their young. Chickadees, for example, require 6,000-9,000 caterpillars per nest! Native plants are the best habitats for the butterfly and moth species (and their caterpillars) that evolved in this region.
Save resources - and your money!
Native plants are adapted to our climate, which means they need less water and fertilizer than imported ornamental plants. Many of the species we carry are drought-tolerant, too!
